As we approach our last few weeks of summer, I feel called to invite people to linger in the energy of summer laziness. There’s a passage from this book “Nature‘s Messages” by Sam Campbell that really speaks to my soul. It captures the magic of summer with poetic language and impactful visuals, and I wanna share it with whoever is willing to listen. Keep scrolling to listen.
My summer has been filled with special moments of deepening friendships with others and myself, leaning into the trust in community, and exploring the dating world. All of these are really huge projects in my human experience, especially the dating part. This has looked like sitting outside smoking a joint and having hard conversations to repair a relationship rather than let the stories swirl around my head that aren’t true. It looks like gathering at the grotto with my friends, stirring up magic with our breath, our oracle cards, and letting the river wash away that which does not serve us. It looks like letting go of the discipline of my daily practice for a couple weeks so I can really feel the impact it has on me. This was a good experiment and I can very clearly see the value.
I’ve also spent much of this summer considering this big project of helping our humanity… it often feels so overwhelming to me. This is where I come back to my center, my breath, my body. I keep things a little closer to home lately, tending to myself and tending to my community is where I can have real impact and trust the gifts I already have can radiate out into the world from there.
In my work, I’ve been enjoying working with yoga practitioners who want to deepen their knowledge. I’ve led a training called Breathing for Life: Pranayama & Energy Body Training and Rooted in Stillness: A Meditation Training. It brings me joy to offer my experience, my studies, and practices to those who want something deeper than an online self-led training. I am offering something you don’t find in your average yoga training. The heat in the outer world has turned up high enough so I want to help you cool down and soften into yourself, into each other, into the earth, into the clouds, into the ocean, into the dahlia.
My next training is coming up at the end of September. Deepening into the Layers: A Yin Yoga Training. It will blend my experience and studies of yin yoga postures through the lens of the 5 Elements from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) & Taoist philosophy, pranayama, anatomical knowledge of variations of postures based on unique bone structure, and my own inspirations that weave through the moment. “You were not just born to center your entire existence on work and labor. You were born to heal, to grow, to be of service to yourself and community, to practice, to experiment, to create, to have space, to dream, and to connect.”
