Slow Grow
Happy Spring! My intention is slow grow. This is motivated by a desire to dance with the spring energy - to move forward, expand, and not burn out. For me, this looks like watching the sunrise in the morning instead of looking at my phone right away. It’s choosing to go outside and observe the red-shouldered hawk soar, see it land, and watch it wait. This looks like getting my bare feet on the ground in between clients instead of getting one more email out. This looks like learning to create my own herbal medicine - cannabis and calendula salve, mugwort tincture, and fire cider tonic. (Thanks for teaching me Nikkie.)
It’s not easy for me to go at a different pace than what capitalism demands. It really is a dance for me and I’m just learning the chorography. I’m grateful to those around me that support the slow grow and remind me of my own intention often. This is one of the reasons I love yoga retreats. It’s a way to stretch the time, share intentions with others, and weave our threads together.
Somehow fitting our yoga into an hour increments became the way AND I’m grateful for it being one of the ways to practices. I do find that if we expand outside of this one hour practice and let our bodies and minds have more space to settle into safety and linger in the curiosity, compassion, and connection that these practices of movement, breath, and stillness offer us. Plus, there’s an opportunity to share meals, laughter, tears, stories, and so much more!
So if I have to somewhat exist in this process of end stage capitalism, I choose to make my money by hosting retreats with the intention of gathering rather than isolating and slowness rather than rushing.
Come join me for one of my upcoming retreats!

Also, I wrote a poem about the hawk, the sun, and my slow grow.
Hawk Haiku
Listen or read, whichever you prefer.
Sunrise, light in eyes
Red Shouldered Hawk flying through
Protect, vision, note
A message from hawk
Tell me, I am listening
A message from sun
Spring Equinox Now
Remembering my wide wings
Preparing to soar
Growing up, out of
Familiar, comfy, cozy
Newness emerging
Seeking the sacred
Mapping the magic moments
Wandering, walking
With faith and breath, my
companions on this life path
Spreading wings again
Travel and travail
Meandering and soaring
Learn, witness, weave, be
